Artist Statement

Rich Curtis is an interdisciplinary artist who works primarily with sound, performance and object making. Working with process-based methodologies, he explores interactions between human-made and naturally occurring phenomena. His conceptual and aesthetic interests range from rituals, spectacles and absurdist theater to erosion, decomposition and traces of the human body.

Biographical Information

Rich Curtis was born and raised in Alabama. He received his BFA from University of North Alabama, in 2000. In 2004 he received his MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Curtis has exhibited internationally including lectures, workshops, residencies, performance events, festivals and exhibitions. He is currently Assistant Professor of Art 
at Thomas University, Thomasville, Georgia.
